Using your HSA or FSA to pay for health services should be easy, but sometimes your card doesn’t go through at checkout.
Many HSA/FSA administrators automatically decline transactions that aren’t categorized under a pre‑approved merchant code (like a doctor’s office or pharmacy). Because Catch is a digital health service, your benefits card processor may not immediately recognize the charge as eligible, even if it qualifies under your plan.
The good news? You can typically still get reimbursed.
Here’s exactly how to do it.
Step 1: Download Your Catch Receipt
You’ll need a copy of your receipt to submit to your benefits administrator.
How to download your receipt:
- Log in at app.catchbio.com
- Click on Account in the top right corner of your screen
- Navigate to Billing Receipt
- Download the PDF

Make sure your receipt clearly shows:
- Your name
- Date of purchase
- Description of services
- Total amount paid
Step 2: Submit Your Claim to Your HSA/FSA
Next, log into your HSA/FSA portal (for example: HealthEquity, Optum, WEX, etc.) and look for a section like:
- “Submit a Claim”
- “Request Reimbursement”
- “File an Expense”
Fill in the required information:
- Date of service: your purchase date
- Amount paid
- Category: often “Medical Services” or similar
- Upload your receipt PDF
You may also need a brief description of the service. You can use:
“Preventive health assessment and cancer risk evaluation service.”
Step 3: What to Do If Your Claim Is Denied
If your HSA/FSA administrator doesn’t approve your claim, Catch has you covered. Simply email support@catchbio.com with your proof of submission, and we’ll reimburse the portion of your purchase that isn’t approved for HSA/FSA funding. We’ll take care of the rest.
Why Catch May Qualify
HSA and FSA funds can often be used for eligible medical expenses that support prevention, diagnosis, or treatment of disease. Catch provides structured health risk evaluation and preventive insights, which may qualify under many plans.
Final Thoughts
Even if your card is declined at checkout, you can still use your HSA/FSA benefits or get reimbursed by Catch if the claim is denied. Submitting your receipt is quick, simple, and ensures you can take full advantage of your benefits while prioritizing your health.
