Project description
The goal of the project is to develop a catalytic system, in collaboration with technologists from the Energy research Centre in the Netherlands (ECN) for the optimal production of higher alcohols via the Guerbet reaction. Your task will be involved in the synthesis, characterization and lab-scale testing of new catalysts based on noble metals on a basic support.
Next to research (90%) you are also expected to contribute to teaching (10%). The research group will provide you with the necessary support on all aspects of the project.

Requirements
We are looking for motivated researchers holding a MSc in a relevant area of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Materials Sciences. You have a background in heterogeneous catalysis or a related area with affinity for process technology. Strong communicational skills are required.

Appointment and salary
You are offered a full-time position for 4 years. Salary starts with € 2,042.- in the first year and amounts to € 2,612.- gross per month in the fourth year of employment (for a 1,0 fte position).

The salary is supplemented with a holiday bonus of 8% and an end-of-year bonus of 8,3% per year. In addition we offer: a pension scheme, a partially paid parental leave, flexible employment conditions in which you may trade salary for vacation days or vice versa.
