Working on CatchBio project: Branched alcohols from (bio) alcohols via Guerbet reaction
Project leader: Dr. J. van Hal
Cluster: Bulk Chemicals
Short CV
Obtained PhD at Delft University of Technology, entitled Mesoporous Catalyst and/or Carrier for Sustainable Chemistry.
Describe the project shortly in your own words?
Applying a heterogeneous catalyst for condensation of lower alcohols such as ethanol or butanol to higher alcohols such as 2-ethyl-1-hexanol, a reaction known as Guerbet reaction. What is the biggest challenge for you, or what fascinates you the most in this research project?
To develop an efficient and at the same time stable heterogeneous catalyst that can also be reused.
What is your future career ambition?
Staying close to research environment.
How do you like to spend your time when not working on your research?
Reading, sightseeing, occasionally some sport activities such as cycling, running and playing football.
