On 20 May, CatchBio project leader Dr Lies Bouwman (Leiden University) held her inaugural lecture, entitled Inorganic Chemistry: colorful and versatile, in which she argues that if we get children enthusiastic about chemistry at a young age, in the long term this can improve society's image of the subject. She also reflected on the research about a copper compound that captures CO2 from the atmosphere, which led to a Science publication. Furthermore Bouwman highlighted the recent theme of using biomass for making all kind of products.
