Dr. Bert Groothuis graduated in 1988 at University Groningen, the Netherlands, on the topic of biomedical polymer implants of Polylactic acid, with Prof. A.J. Pennings.
He was a research scientist with General Electric Plastics, at GE’s research centers in Bergen op Zoom and Mt. Vernon, IN, USA. from 1988 – 2004. He then joined the Marketing department of GE Plastics as global market and business development manager with experience in the launch of new initiatives and products.
In 2008 he was appointed Change Management Leader, leading an implementing the organizational changes in SABIC corporation.
In 2010 he joined the newly erected Corporate Sustainability organization at SABIC, responsible for environmental sustainability strategy development and execution, translating the evolving needs of customers into product development priorities and supporting development of green material technologies. He is a member of the PlasticsEurope Sustainability Platform initiative and its Green Public Procurement Working group.
Bert joined the Catchbio Management team in 2010.
SABIC corporation is a member of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), is an Energy Star partner and supports the Global Compact and Responsible Care Initiatives.
